Blood Orange Sangria

At Vegetarian & Cooking we're obsessed with blood oranges, this is a fun way to jazz up traditional cocktails. Other Blood Orange Recipes: Blood Orange Tequila Drink with Lime and Blood Orange Margaritas.

This recipe is adapted How Sweet Eats.

Ingredients:
-6 blood oranges
-1 bottles of Moscato
-1 cup club soda
-1/2 cup tequila
-12 ounces of strawberries, sliced
-1 pint of blueberries
-1 apple, chopped
-1/2 cup sugar, for glass rimming

Juice your blood oranges.

Prep the fruit and place it in the bowl.
At in all of the liquid ingredients.

Top with some orange slices if desired.

Using an orange or some water wet the rim of the glass and dip into sugar.
Add ice to the glasses/jars.

Fill with sangria.

Drink the sangria.

Then enjoy all of the fruit.

This sangria was really good, Becky and I agreed that this was probably one of the best cocktail recipes that we've made. Both of us had several glasses of sangria, just be careful because it will sneak up on you! I think the flavors went really well together because they were really light, there was no overwhelming flavor of any of the alcohols. The original recipe called for two bottles of wine, but we were just making this for three people so feel free to adjust the recipe as needed.

Blood Orange Margaritas

Happy Cinco de Mayo! This blood orange margarita recipe comes from uTry it. If you're looking for great way to spice up your margaritas today, look no further.

Other Blood Orange Recipes: Blood Orange Tequila Drink with Lime.

Ingredients:
Makes 2
-2 limes, juiced
-1 tablespoon flaky sea salt (for the rim)
-1 to 2 tablespoons agave nectar (depending on the sweetness form your oranges and your preference)
-3/4 cup freshly squeezed blood orange juice
-4 ounces tequila
-Lots of ice

Combine all of the ingredients in a blender and crush the ice until the drink is slushy. Rim the glasses with coarse salt and pour the drink into margarita glasses.

Garnish with an orange wedge.

Enjoy!

This drink was great, the blood oranges added a nice twist to the margarita since it's not a typical flavor that you would see served in a restaurant. I like my margaritas a little tart so I didn't add extra agave syrup, but you could easily add if for extra sweetness.

Blood Orange Tequila Drink with Lime

It's starting to get warm out, and summer is the perfect time for fun cocktail recipes. This one uses blood oranges and is perfect for the beach or a summer party. The blood orange gave it a really deep red color, I thought this was fun for a different orange cocktail. The original recipe comes from Food fashion and fun.

Ingredients:
-1/2 cup Blood Orange Juice (this took us about 3 oranges)
-1/4 cup Lime Juice
-1/2 cup Tequila
-1 cup Sparkling Limeade
-Extra Blood Orange Slices for garnish

Cut the oranges. They are really a deep red on the inside.
Add the ingredients with some ice to a shaker.
Pour into a glass.
Garnish with an orange slice.
Find a good spot to enjoy your drink!

The color in this was pretty cool. If I made this again, I would use a little less lime juice, it had a pretty strong citrus taste.
